Paul Wynblatt is currently emeritus professor of materials science and engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester in the UK in 1956, a master’s degree from the Technion in Israel in 1958, and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley 1966. In 1987, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Aix-Marseille in France. His past professional activities include employment with the Israel Atomic Energy Commission (1958-62), and Ford Motor Company (1966-81). From 1981 to 2004, he was professor of materials science and engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where he also held appointments as director of the Center for Materials Research (1985-88), Associate Dean of Engineering (1989-91), and head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (1991-95).
